May is Celiac Awareness Month
We are delighted to host the next Gluten Free Living 101 session: Grocery Store Edition in celebration of May Awareness Month!
Date: Tuesday May 27, 2025
Time: 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Location: Community Natural Foods, 7917 104 St NW, Edmonton
Fee: $5 per person which covers administration costs
This session is not suitable for young children. Please reach out to coordinator@celiacedmonton.ca if you have any questions about this event.
We offer this program in collaboration with Community Natural Foods. The program kicks off with a presentation on all things Celiac Disease also including information on gluten free disorders, discussing tips for safe food purchasing, label reading and relevant local information. This presentation will be facilitated by a registered dietitian and all of your questions are welcomed. After the presentation, we will led on a guided grocery store tour to get an in depth look at ingredients, labels and product options.
This meeting is primarily aimed at those who are newly diagnosed or whom are the caregivers of a newly diagnosed child as well as those who support someone with Celiac Disease or gluten-related disorders.
Light refreshments will be available.

Celiac Youth Club Cryptic Characters Meet-up
On this atypical day of exploring the galaxy and delivering aid to planets in need, we find ourselves as the ones in need of help! Together with the damaged ship’s AI can we save the day before all is lost?
Along with this fun adventure, we will also hold a discussion around the teens’ experience with Celiac Disease as well as how they would like to be involved in leadership and volunteering with the Chapter.
Gluten free snacks will be provided.
This program is open to non-celiac friends as well.

2025 Pedal Pub Mixer
Date: Friday May 16, 2025
Time: 8:30 pm – 11:15 pm
Location: 8115 Gateway Boulevard Northwest, Edmonton
Fee: $55 per person to reserve your spot on the pedal bike

Shine-A-Light Campaign is a nationwide campaign to rise awareness for Celiac Disease.
You are welcome to check out the other landmarks such as Epcor Tower and The Legislature after the ride!
Celiac Edmonton, is your local chapter of Celiac Canada serving people adversely affected by gluten with education, support, social events, and a variety of programs for all ages in Edmonton and Northern Alberta.

May Awareness – Shine a Light Pedal Pub Tour!
Join us for an exciting evening aboard the Pedal Pub this Friday, May 16th, at 8:30 PM – 11:15 PM as we take a scenic ride through the city, visiting beautifully lit-up buildings to raise awareness for Celiac Disease. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to shine a light on this important cause while enjoying the city!
The ride itself will run from 9:15 PM to 11:15 PM, with a 45-minute stop along the way. You’ll also have the opportunity to switch seats during the ride, as there are 2-3 regular seats without pedals.

Each participant will also receive a snack pack to enjoy during the ride.
Meet new people, enjoy the spring weather and sunset, all while enjoying some gluten free beer!
We will be starting at Epic Market located at 8115 Gateway Boulevard Northwest, Edmonton AB T6E 3X8 to enjoy appetizers before we take off on our pedal tour. All appetizer purchases are optional and purchased with Epic Market. If you do not wish to participate in purchasing appetizers at Epic Market, please arrive for 9:00pm.
The ride itself will run from 9:15 PM to 11:15 PM, with a 45-minute stop along the way.

2025 Celiac Safe & May Awareness hosted by Celiac Edmonton.
Living with celiac disease can be isolating — but it doesn’t have to be.
This community dinner offers a safe, inclusive space for individuals impacted by celiac disease to come together, share experiences, and raise awareness in the relaxed, welcoming & old-world bistro ambiance. Whether you’re newly diagnosed or a seasoned gluten-free gourmet, this evening offers a unique opportunity to build community, raise awareness, and celebrate safe, satisfying dining in style.
The event features a specially crafted, 100% gluten-free European-inspired menu (see below) available for purchase directly from the venue. Volunteers will be on hand to answer questions and provide trusted and evidence-based information about celiac disease and available supports.

Celiac Edmonton Casino Fundraising

Every couple of years, Celiac Edmonton has the opportunity to participate in Alberta’s unique charitable gaming model. Casinos require volunteers for day & night shifts at the assigned casino in exchange for a percentage of the earnings over those days. Volunteers can donate time by filling a variety of positions.
The funds raised at this year’s Casino will be dedicated to supporting the gluten-free community. Through this support, we’ll provide valuable information on programs, services, and events, while also creating opportunities for members of our community to connect, engage, and build lasting friendships with others navigating the same journey.

This meeting is primarily aimed at those who are newly diagnosed or whom are the caregivers of a newly diagnosed child but it may prove valuable to those looking for more information on safely dining out. Spaces are limited – please select a MAXIMUM of two spaces (one for yourself and one for a support person if needed). This session is not suitable for young children.
